Adora Fibers, SFBI’s 70th Client Company
June 2010
Frustrated with knitting projects that end up as a disaster? Adora Fibers offers knitting kits designed for beginning and intermediate knitters to make unique items while growing their skillset. Diane Bardal, founder and designer for Adora Fibers, has been knitting for over 30 years as a creative outlet. “ Creating new designs and making beautiful things with my hands is my joy. I love working with rich fibers using simple stitches and big needles. About a year ago, I started to build knitting kits for myself. After work, I loved coming home to pick out a kit and immediately start to knit . Voila, Adora Fibers was born!”
Adora Fibers is located in the Santa Fe Business Incubator, which offers a wide range of resources to assist a start-up company. A key benefit for Ms. Bardal is the ability to bounce ideas off of other SFBI entreprenuers - “Having another person who has been there or is facing a similar issue—what a great opportunity to learn and grow”. Building Green from the Heart of Nature
June 2010
The Green Money Journal’s summer 2010 issue contains an article authored by Joel Goldblatt, president of Bluenergy Solarwind, Inc. Mr. Goldblatt is a serial entrepreneur in renewable energies, and his article Building Green from the Heart of Nature describes his experiences and the role that angel investors play in growing new companies. Describing his previous company LightPath, Mr. Goldblatt wrote “…I realize that the magic of our adventure was not the real invention of the GRADIUM® technology or even the successful IPO of our company. Rather it was the dozens of investors and supporters who shared a common vision and drive to perfect a technology that would make solar-generated electricity more accessible to everyone. “
His current venture, Bluenergy Solarwind, Inc., will manufacture both a wind-only turbine and the Solarwind™ turbine – a unique hybrid combining solar and wind into one unit generating electricity on-site. Bluenergy Solarwind will create 30 new manufacturing jobs and hundreds of indirect jobs for installation and operations, and each turbine installed will generate clean electricity for the owner’s on-site use. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Goldblatt states that Bluenergy Solarwind demonstrates three key factors for a green future: sustainable design, corporate social responsibility, and the evolution for new infrastructures that enable local market , economy and product growth.
