SFBI Welcomes New Client RoofCARE
September 2010
In August, 2010, Santa Fe Business Incubator welcomed its newest client, RoofCARE, to Santa Fe. The company was started in the WESST Enterprise Center in Albuquerque, and after its initial success, decided to expand to Northern New Mexico. With a new model of extending the life of a roof rather than replacing it, the company is able to save money for its commercial and residential clients.
A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Incubator on August 3rd and the owners and staff were joined by Incubator clients, members of the community and Simon Brackley and staff of the Chamber of Commerce.
The Incubator is pleased to welcome its newest client and wishes them long-term success and future job growth in Northern New Mexico.
Small Business Heavyweights
July 2010
The Santa Fe Business Incubator is pleased to announce that two of our graduate companies, 20th Century West Art Appraisal, Inc. and Serafina Technical Consulting, have been recognized by The New Mexico Business Weekly as Small Business Heavyweights. A panel of small-business experts selected twenty-five outstanding New Mexico companies with 25 or fewer employees, reflecting a variety of industries from communities around the state as Heavyweights. Companies selected have created a unique product or service; have demonstrated a strong track record in business; and have made important contributions to New Mexico and its economy.
Caroline Seigel, 20th Century West Art Appraisal’s founder and senior appraiser, has expertise in American paintings, sculpture and works on paper, with a specialization in Western and Southwestern fine art. Over the years, she has appraised high-value fine art by members of the Taos Society of Artists and by New York Modernists for donation to the New Mexico Museum of Art and to the Georgia Keeffe Museum, both in Santa Fe, as well as for insurance and estate settlement of private collections.
Serafina Technical Consulting (STC) specializes in environmental services for the public and private sectors including emission inventories, water system assessments, real estate environmental services, traffic noise analysis and abatement, pollution prevention and compliance services. STC’s owner, Dr. Brinda Ramanathan, has over 35 years of scientific research and environmental engineering expertise and is a New Mexico Registered Professional Engineer.
The honorees will be featured in a special Business Weekly publication and at an awards presentation on July 22nd. The Santa Fe Business Incubator congratulates two outstanding New Mexico businesses and SFBI graduates.

June 2010
Frustrated with knitting projects that end up as a disaster? Adora Fibers offers knitting kits designed for beginning and intermediate knitters to make unique items while growing their skillset. Diane Bardal, founder and designer for Adora Fibers, has been knitting for over 30 years as a creative outlet. “ Creating new designs and making beautiful things with my hands is my joy. I love working with rich fibers using simple stitches and big needles. About a year ago, I started to build knitting kits for myself. After work, I loved coming home to pick out a kit and immediately start to knit . Voila, Adora Fibers was born!”
Adora Fibers is located in the Santa Fe Business Incubator, which offers a wide range of resources to assist a start-up company. A key benefit for Ms. Bardal is the ability to bounce ideas off of other SFBI entreprenuers - “Having another person who has been there or is facing a similar issue—what a great opportunity to learn and grow”. Building Green from the Heart of Nature
June 2010
The Green Money Journal’s summer 2010 issue contains an article authored by Joel Goldblatt, president of Bluenergy Solarwind, Inc. Mr. Goldblatt is a serial entrepreneur in renewable energies, and his article Building Green from the Heart of Nature describes his experiences and the role that angel investors play in growing new companies. Describing his previous company LightPath, Mr. Goldblatt wrote “…I realize that the magic of our adventure was not the real invention of the GRADIUM® technology or even the successful IPO of our company. Rather it was the dozens of investors and supporters who shared a common vision and drive to perfect a technology that would make solar-generated electricity more accessible to everyone. “
His current venture, Bluenergy Solarwind, Inc., will manufacture both a wind-only turbine and the Solarwind™ turbine – a unique hybrid combining solar and wind into one unit generating electricity on-site. Bluenergy Solarwind will create 30 new manufacturing jobs and hundreds of indirect jobs for installation and operations, and each turbine installed will generate clean electricity for the owner’s on-site use. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Goldblatt states that Bluenergy Solarwind demonstrates three key factors for a green future: sustainable design, corporate social responsibility, and the evolution for new infrastructures that enable local market , economy and product growth.
